The Graduate Lounge
Introduction of Graduate Student Issues Committee
Initiated and advocated by Dr. Kristin Huff from College Board, Graduate Student Issues Committee (GSIC) of the Northeastern Educational Research Association (NERA) has officially started. Kristin outlined the notes from the first meeting of graduate students at NERA 2006 Conference in the December issue of NERA Researcher. Mission of the GSIC is stated as to “conduct activities to support the involvement and professional development of NERA graduate students and to reach out to other graduate students who are potential members of NERA.” Activities that are planned for the realization of our mission at this point are increasing the diversity of institutions represented at NERA, preparing “The Graduate Lounge” of the NERA Researcher, programming a session for the conference, organizing a best student paper, establishing relations with other graduate student committees, and representing graduate students at NERA committees and committees. GSIC will carry out these activities with the help of fellow graduate students. Any ideas and contributions are welcome.
